How to shop this category
Before you compare prices

How Tools in This Category Actually Bill

Headline prices are rarely comparable, because vendors here charge for different things. These are the models you will meet and what each one hides.

Per profile or per connected account

Each LinkedIn or X profile you connect counts as a unit, with the same limits inside each.

Watch for: Agencies and employee advocacy programmes multiply this quickly. Count every executive and every client profile before comparing plans.

Monthly credits, words or AI posts

Drafts, rewrites and images draw from an allowance that resets each month.

Watch for: Word and credit allowances run out faster than the post count suggests, because every regeneration uses more. Ask what one finished post costs.

Per seat for a team

A fee per person drafting, approving or publishing, often annual.

Watch for: Approval flows usually sit on the team tier, so a single creator plan may not cover a ghostwriter plus a reviewer.

One-time packs or lifetime deals

A single payment buys a fixed number of credits or access to templates.

Watch for: A one-time price rarely covers a tool that depends on a changing network, so check what happens to the plan if the platform changes its access rules.

Run this during the trial

What to Test, and What the Result Tells You

"Evaluate output quality" is not a test. These are specific things to do while you still have a free trial, and what each outcome actually means.

  1. 1

Feed the tool ten of your own best posts and generate three new ones on a topic you know.

What it tells you: Voice learning shows up in how few lines you rewrite. If you rewrite most of them, you are paying for a template library.

  2. 2

Find every feature that acts on the network without you, such as likes, follows or direct messages.

What it tells you: Automation beyond publishing can breach network terms and put the account at risk, whatever the feature is called.

  3. 3

Draft a comment reply on a post from a real prospect and read it as the recipient would.

What it tells you: Replies that restate the post or flatter it read as automated, and a visibly automated comment costs credibility rather than adding reach.

  4. 4

Schedule a post, then change the account's connection and see how the tool reports the failure.

What it tells you: Silent failures mean a missed post goes unnoticed until someone asks where it went.

  5. 5

Count the monthly cap in finished posts rather than credits, using a full draft and one revision.

What it tells you: The effective post count, not the headline number, is what you are buying.

What You Probably Already Own

Some of this job is already covered by tools you pay for or can use free. Worth ruling out before adding a subscription.

LinkedIn and X native scheduling
Scheduled posts and basic analytics at no cost, which is the whole job for a person who writes a few posts a week.
A general AI assistant with your style notes
Drafting and rewriting posts, which a paid ChatGPT or Claude seat already does when you give it real examples.
A shared document for approvals
Review and sign-off for one executive and one ghostwriter, which approval seats charge extra for.
Claims that do not survive scrutiny

Red Flags in This Category

  • Auto-connect, auto-follow or auto-DM features, which carry the highest risk of account restriction.
  • Follower or engagement guarantees, which tend to be met with low quality accounts.
  • Comment generation sold as scaled engagement, when the output reads the same on every post.
  • Unlimited posting claims that sit alongside a monthly credit or word allowance.
Questions

LinkedIn and X FAQs

Does LinkedIn penalise AI-written posts?

LinkedIn has not said it penalises text because of how it was drafted. Posts that read as generic or repeat a familiar template tend to earn less engagement, which is a quality problem rather than a rule.

Is it safe to automate comments on LinkedIn or X?

Drafting a reply you then post yourself is low risk. Tools that post comments, follow accounts or send messages automatically can breach network terms, so check what the feature does before turning it on.

Should an executive's posts come from a tool or a ghostwriter?

A tool that learns from the executive's own posts works for a stream of short updates. Longer pieces that need the executive's own stories usually still need a person who interviews them.
